While creativity is crucial in the advancement of bio-medical research, several factors are coming into play to hinder tapping into the minds that could go a long way in changing the outlook of research. Yet it is essential to ensure that creativity is explored so that completed hypothesis can be advanced and new effective ways of conducting research can be created.
Lack of financial aid is considered among the top most reasons that is bringing this sector down to its knees and hindering development. While there are some people who argue that having to researchers come up with better ideas when they are going through difficult episodes because they have to improvise, the reverse is true. Funding helps, they gain access to facilities and all the materials, which are considered essential in effectively coming up with better solutions. However, in recent days, only one out of every eight research-proposals gains access to funding. This then leaves the rest of the proposals which in most instances are viable and could make a major impact in the medical industry untended and once a researcher gets more than a couple of rejected proposals, the moral and creativity is stifled.
In addition to this, some researchers who are destroying the name of the industry by putting up hypothesis are not legit so that they can gain access to fast grant. To overcome this, the funding process is regulated by carrying out qualitative analysis on all the researchers interested in getting funding. This means that they must showcase some of the research projects they have carried out and the results they managed to achieve. Though this is logical way of approaching the situation, it does little for ensuring that qualified researchers who have not had the pleasure of getting funded before are not locked out of the process.
There are also some self interest groups, which are working towards frustrating the efforts of advancement in the bio-medical research industry. This often include groups that support research through funding such as editors, review people, consultants who are working for journals and to some extent, a group of non profitable organizations. If their purpose were to fund the projects without going into much more deeper issues then this would not be an issue. However, the issue comes in because a majority of them hinders the finding of researchers who are working on individual terms because they are bound to carry out more through findings. This especially stands true for researchers who have worked in foreign countries and when they go back to their home countries, they are not given priority because they have already established a high level of integrity.
These factors however should not discourage researchers who believe that they have what it takes to come up with a research project that will revolutionize the world and be ranked among other great projects. They should always strive to explore their creativity by minding new ideas and not giving up on pursuing for funding.
